Augusta National Golf Club Invites 2 Women

So yesterday Augusta National Golf Club did something that they haven't done since the private club opened up in 1932. Augusta is home to one of the most famous PGA tournaments, The Masters. Augusta chairman Billie Payne announced that former secretary of state Condolezza Rice and Darla Moore (south carolina finance executive) had excepted invitations to become members.
Personally I think that this is a good thing, but Augusta obviously has there reasons for changing there long history of a all male club. Really this is nothing more than an acknowledgement that rich privileged women should get to join rich privileged clubs too. Not much will change, Augusta will still remain a playground for the rich, powerful and connected. The only difference is that there are now just two rich, powerful and connected women members. For a golf club to host one of the most famous golf tournaments and invite thousands and thousands to witness it and then have whoever watch it on television, but then be a male only golf club, i think just looks bad. But you better believe that there are a minority, and i hope that it is a small minority, of guy members that are frowning on this decision. The guys who like things the way they are. Almost all of us will never even set foot on the on the courses historic grounds. But the fact that so many people welcome the decision suggests that it was the right thing to do.
